Frequently asked questions
Dog Gym
It’s a place where dogs can get the physical and mental workout they need in a controlled setting. It’s great for high-energy dogs, bad weather days, or just giving your dog something fun and productive to do. A 30-minute walk on a slatmill is often equal to an hour or more of a regular walk, thanks to the consistent pace, resistance, and focus it provides.
We operate by appointment only, with flexible scheduling throughout the week to fit your routine. Just reach out and we’ll find a time that works best for you and your dog!
We provide weekly, bi-weekly, and as-needed scheduling options. Most clients stick with once-a-week sessions, which offer consistent physical and mental benefits—often choosing the same day and time each week for routine. Since every dog is unique, the ideal frequency can depend on their age, breed, and energy level. You're always welcome to reach out, and we’ll help you figure out what schedule works best for your dog.
When scheduling a run, we typically book sessions a few days in advance. Same-day appointments can be difficult to accommodate, so the earlier you book, the better!
Before your first session, you’ll receive an electronic liability waiver to sign—please read it carefully. You’ll also get a confirmation text the day before and a text 1 hour before your appointment.
If your dog has a favorite harness, please put it on for their session. Otherwise, we provide comfortable, secure harnesses to keep your dog safe during their workout.
To ensure your dog is comfortable, please avoid feeding them within 2 hours before their session, as exercising on a full stomach can cause discomfort.
When you arrive, simply bring your dog to the shed gym. If you need any assistance, just let us know—we’re happy to help!
You can expect prompt, professional, and personalized care every time. Our focus is always on safety and positivity. Each session is customized to meet your dog’s energy level that day—whether that means walking, trotting, or running. We supervise closely, give water breaks as needed, and keep things fun and encouraging.
Our treadmills are non-motorized, so your dog controls the pace—nothing is forced. We motivate with praise, clapping, toys, and affection—not treats—so we don’t interfere with any dietary needs or weight goals. You are welcome to bring your own treats.
You're welcome to join the session and cheer your dog on, or sit back and relax while we handle the workout. Whether you want to watch or take a break for the duration of the session, we’re here to make it easy and enjoyable for both you and your dog.
After a solid workout, your dog might sprawl out on the floor and take a good breather—we call it the classic “post-run flop”! It’s totally normal and just means they got a great workout. Make sure to wait until their heart rate comes down before feeding.
Some dogs get a little energy boost right after their session—that’s just adrenaline and happy endorphins doing their thing. Once they settle, that energy will wear off.
If your dog is older or not used to regular exercise, a gentle hind leg massage can help ease soreness and keep them feeling great.
When you're ready to book the next session, just call or text 208-608-0744. We’ll typically check in a week after their first visit, but feel free to reach out anytime!
Most dogs get the hang of things in just a few minutes! We’ll help guide them as they learn to balance and move on the treadmill, and with each session, their confidence and coordination naturally improve.
Since our treadmills have no motors, your dog controls the pace entirely. They can walk, trot, or run at their own speed, and the equipment moves with them. We’re there the whole time to monitor, encourage, and ensure a safe, low-pressure environment.
Have a dog with unique needs or personality quirks? We’d love to hear about them so we can customize their experience and make each visit a positive one.
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit/debit cards. You’re welcome to prepay through a Square invoice, save a card on file, or simply pay at the time of your session—whichever works best for you!
All dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their rabies vaccination. We welcome up to large dogs—from 2 lbs to 250 lbs—and have experience working with a wide range of personalities and needs. Let us know anything specific about your dog, and we’ll do our best to create a safe, supportive experience just for them.
We understand that life—and dogs—can be unpredictable. To help keep things running smoothly, we send out a confirmation text at 8 AM the day before your scheduled session. Unless we hear otherwise, we consider your appointment confirmed.
If you need to reschedule or cancel, please let us know no later than 8 PM the night before your session. This gives us time to adjust our schedule.
• Same-day cancellations will incur a $25 fee.
• Cancellations within one hour of your session will be charged the full session rate.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!
